Laura Flippen was raised on a farm in Northern California as a
youngster, she now makes her home in the city where she works and
plays as a photographer. She received a BFA from the California
College of Art (formerly CCAC) in 1999. Her work seeks to capture
scenes that are part of a continuum: a place where time is suspended
to a point where scrutiny becomes possible once more. Traveling has
given her the opportunity to do this and step outside herself –
becoming more aware of the humanity of daily life. It has also
provided her the joys of jetlag, airport security, and the occasional
haunting of the digestive tract.
