Orion Shepherd was raised in Martinez, California where he
developed a keen interest in rusted things and exploring. He received
his BFA in Painting & Drawing from CCAC in San Francisco. His
content is often pulled from his personal collection of publications and
other objects from the 1960’s through 1980’s. His recent paintings
explore emotional attachment to the inanimate and his love/hate
relationship with collecting. Orion’s art is also concerned with
participation in the last generation to grow up in an analog age. The
small scale of his miniature paintings is essentially a “style limiter” as
the paintings are executed with media typically used in full-scale art.
His work has been shown at Needles & Pens, Mollusk, Space 868 and
Brown Bear.
